NEW IQA UNDERGOES 9001:2015 INTERNAL QUALITY AUDIT (IQA) TRAINING-WORKSHOP

Guimaras State College Salvador Campus – The Recommended Faculty and Staff of their respective Department Heads were sent by Quality Assurance Office to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System IQA Training-Workshop. The said event was made possible through Mr. Kevin Castillon (ISO 9001:2015 QMS Trainer) last August 13-15, 2019.

The 3-Day Training Workshop was held at Guimaras State College in which, its main objective is to Capacitate the personnel to become internal quality auditors of the college. During the training-workshop, Mr. Castillon highlighted that the important role of IQA in the organization is to help the organization by continuously verifying the conformance of the organization’s processes to the ISO 9001:2015 standard.

Series of Workshop Activities were conducted to ensure that the all participants will be equipped with the knowledge and skills as Auditor.

Guimaras State College deeply mourns over the untimely demise of our graduate school students
namely:
MA. ZENY ANILAO (Lambunao NHS),
GEORGE BUENAVISTA (Agcuyawan Calsada ES),
LYNLYN JANOLINO (Lambunao NHS),
IVY GRACE LABORDO (Lambunao NHS),
MARIA EMILIE LEGARDA (Lambunao NHS)
and all others who were victims of the devastating
and very unexpected Guimaras-Iloilo Strait tragedy.

We grieve for the family over this very unfortunate incident. Rest assured that the College will do its best to provide all the necessary assistance and benefits both from the College and Guimaras Provincial Government due to these graduate school students who were victims of that sea mishap.

GSC-WVFIC conducted “Seminar Orientation on Design of Experiment (DOE) in Food Research and Development”

The Guimaras State College – Western Visayas Food Innovation Center (GSC-WVFIC) headed by Dr. Rogelio T. Artajo, GSC-WVFIC Project leader and Dr. Methusela C. Perrocha, WVFIC Center Manager conducted a “Seminar Orientation on Design of Experiment (DOE) in Food Research and  Development” last July 31, 2019 at the WVFIC, GSC Mosqueda Campus, Alaguisoc, Jordan, Guimaras. The 1-day seminar is one of the Science and Technology (S&T) activities conducted by the center to implement the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) funded project entitled “Intensifying the Research & Development Activities and other Services of the Food Innovation Center (FIC)”. Instr. Adrian C. Alumbro, program head and a faculty of Bachelor of Science in Food Technology of GSC is the speaker/lecturer of the said topic. At the end of the seminar, the participants will be able to apply the tool in the conduct of the research and development activities in the FIC.

ADMINISTRATION HOLDS GENERAL FACULTY MEETING IN PREPARATION FOR THE START OF CLASSES NEXT WEEK.

GUIMARAS STATE COLLEGE – Faculty convened in the Agri-Eco Convention Center for the General Faculty Meeting as part of the preparation of the College for the upcoming start of classes on August 5, 2019. In the said meeting, Dr. Ruby D. Catalan (OIC-VPAA) discussed the faculty loading, guidelines on travel, classroom engagements, and attendance of faculty members to various training and seminars. Other matters presented were the Contract of Service, Exemption from BIR of all Part-time Instructors and Library use. It also served as a venue for the faculty to raise their concerns related to Instruction. Furthermore, the Information Technology Department was requested to conduct training for their newly developed “E-Class Record” which will be used by all faculty members.

Dr. Rogelio T. Artajo (College President) was also present in the said meeting to listen, assist and address the concerns of the faculty members. He also reminded the members of the Institution to “Smile” while working in the Institution.
