Modernizing Community Engagement Using KoboToolbox

On September 24, 2026, extension coordinators and project leaders gathered at the Graduate School – AVR, GSU-Salvador Campus, McLain, Buenavista, Guimaras, for a transformative training workshop. The program commenced with an inspiring welcome address by Dr. Erly M. Martir, who highlighted that even a small step taken to help others can create a profound and lasting impact.

Building on this vision, the technical core of the program headed straight into the hands-on world of digital data collection using KoboToolbox. Led by Engr. Messadick Vincent Niel S. Fuerte, University Extension Specialist II and Mr. Jason S. Arsenio University Extension Associate I, participants were taken through an introduction and a system walkthrough covering everything technical and practical about the platform.

Engr. Fuerte and Mr. Arsenio demonstrated how this open-source, offline-capable mobile tool transforms traditional paper surveys into a continuous digital experience. Attendees got a hands-on look at KoboToolbox’s powerful end-to-end workflow—including smart skip logic, GPS and media capture, and real-time data validation—empowering our university extension coordinators and project leaders to collect accurate, reliable data for our communities!
