Utilizing KoboToolbox to conduct a 1-on-1 Community Needs Assessment with a PDL at the Buenavista BJMP facility.

In a step toward modernizing its data collection, the Monitoring and Impact Assessment Unit (MIAU) under the Extension Services Division successfully conducted a Community Needs Assessment for the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Buenavista Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) facility in San Isidro, Buenavista, Guimaras, on October 8, 2026.

This initiative marks a milestone as MIAU utilized KoboToolbox to collect data digitally for the very first time in the community. The primary objective of the assessment is to identify and evaluate the specific needs, interests, and readiness of interested PDLs.

Workshop Interactive Session 2
CESO Staff gathering precise data to help design targeted vocational and educational programs.

By gathering precise, data-driven insights, the Extension Services Division can design targeted, high-impact educational and vocational interventions tailored specifically to their circumstances.

Beyond addressing immediate learning interests, the collected data will serve as a baseline. It will enable the MIAU to effectively monitor the progress, measure the social impact, and guide the strategic planning of future collaborations and extension projects initiated by Guimaras State University.

The success of this assessment reinforces GSU’s dedication to inclusive community engagement, proving that education and institutional support knows no boundaries.
