GSU Holds Pre-Employment Seminar for Graduating Students

Pre Employment Seminar

Guimaras State University (GSU) convened a three-day pre-employment seminar for graduating students from April 21 to 23, 2026, at the University Gymnasium, carrying the theme, “Empowered by Knowledge, Driven by Purpose: GSU Graduates Opening Doors to a Bright Tomorrow.” The activity assembled final-year students for a series of talks and discussions intended to bridge academic preparation with workplace expectations.

The opening day, April 21, began with a welcome message from Dir. Rey M. Arturo, followed by the statement of purpose delivered by Dr. Erwin D. Dumagpi. In his remarks, Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Erly M. Martir spoke on the shift from campus life to professional settings, noting the need for adaptability and sound judgment in early career stages. University President Dr. Lilian Diana B. Parreño likewise addressed the participants, stressing responsibility and work ethic as graduates step into employment.

The resource speaker for the morning session was introduced by Instr. Shaira Severino. Ms. Eula Mae Grecia-Andrade then led the discussion, walking students through the actual terrain of hiring processes—from interview conduct to workplace decorum and employer expectations. The session concluded with certificate distribution, an open forum, and closing remarks from Dr. Jasmin L. Parreño.

In the afternoon, Atty. Joanne Pauline G. Ronzales took the floor to discuss labor-related matters, including basic employee rights, contract provisions, and workplace obligations. Her session gave emphasis to legal awareness among first-time jobseekers, particularly in understanding employment terms and protections.

On April 22, the morning program resumed with Dir. Arturo’s welcome message and the introduction of the speaker by Dr. Rhea Joy D. Flora. Mr. Kenneth Jun V. Eusebio led the session, focusing on application strategies, professional presentation, and aligning skills with industry demand, while also addressing workplace adjustment and sustained performance beyond hiring.

The afternoon segment again featured Atty. Ronzales, who expanded discussions on employment law, including compliance, workplace conduct, and dispute awareness. Closing remarks were delivered by Engr. Dhynelle Muyco.

The final day followed a similar structure, with Dir. Arturo opening the session and Dr. Dumagpi reiterating the program’s purpose. Dr. Jasmin T. Gadian introduced the speaker, while Mr. Eusebio reinforced key points on job readiness and career entry. The seminar concluded with Atty. Ronzales’ final lecture, certificate distribution, and closing discussions.

Across the three-day run, the seminar provided graduating students with a working grasp of hiring procedures, legal considerations, and workplace conduct—serving as a preparatory step as they move from academic training to professional practice.
