On April 15, 2026, Guimaras State University (GSU), through its College of Teacher Education (CTE), held a student retreat anchored on the theme “Still Worth Living: Surrender Your Wounds to the God Who Sees Your Heart.” The activity was carried out across the University Gymnasium and open field, drawing CTE students into a day of reflection, guided conversation, and activity.
The morning segment opened with an inspirational message from CTE Dean Dr. Jasmin T. Gadian, who spoke on the need for pause and inward attention amid academic demands. This was followed by a praise and worship session led by the designated worship team, setting the tone for the succeeding discussions.
The invited speaker, Rev. Leanette Jabano, was introduced by Romelyn Gabasa before delivering her message, which centered on personal struggles, quiet endurance, and the act of entrusting one’s burdens to faith. A ministering segment followed, where participants were given space for prayer and reflection, facilitated by Rev. Jabano alongside fellow pastors. The morning concluded with a closing worship segment and the distribution of certificates, led by the organization’s president and adviser.
In the afternoon, the gathering shifted to a more interactive setting. Participants were regrouped and engaged in cheers, yells, and team-based activities held at the university field. These exercises were intended to build rapport and ease among students following the earlier reflective sessions.
An awarding segment recognized participating groups, after which closing remarks were delivered by Religious President Mariah Leah D. Solitas. The retreat concluded with students returning from both the reflective and communal aspects of the program.
