Guimaras State University (GSU) participated in activities under the CHEDxSEAMEO RIHED Higher Education Week 2026, engaging in regional discussions and institutional exchanges aimed at strengthening international cooperation, quality assurance, and the visibility of Philippine higher education institutions.
On October 13, 2026, Dr. Ervin L. Isogon, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Helen R. Vilbar, Director of International Affairs; and Ms. Charry P. Callaso, Quality Assurance Staff, represented GSU at the 34th Governing Board Meeting of the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Centre for Higher Education and Development (SEAMEO RIHED) in Iloilo City.
The meeting provided a regional platform for institutional leaders and education stakeholders to discuss matters concerning higher education development and cooperation. GSU’s participation allowed its representatives to engage with broader regional priorities and developments relevant to academic governance and institutional advancement.
On October 16, Dr. Vilbar also represented the University at the State Universities and Colleges (SUC) Exhibit Fair held at the University of the Philippines Visayas in Miag-ao, Iloilo, as part of the same higher education week. The exhibit brought institutional participation into a public-facing setting, providing an avenue for universities and colleges to present their work and engage with fellow institutions and stakeholders.
GSU’s involvement in the two activities reflects its continuing engagement in internationalization and inter-institutional networking. Participation in regional higher education platforms enables the University to exchange institutional practices, cultivate professional linkages, and remain engaged with emerging concerns in quality assurance and academic development.
