On September 12, 2026, Guimaras State University (GSU) conducted its Graduate School Orientation Program at the GSU Gymnasium, Salvador Campus, acquainting new graduate students with the University’s academic framework, policies, services, and institutional expectations.
The orientation opened with a message from Vice President for Academic Affairs (VPAA) Dr. Erly M. Martir, who welcomed the graduate students and emphasized the importance of approaching advanced study with academic discipline, professional responsibility, and a clear sense of purpose.
The program then introduced key university officials and presented the institutional structures and services that graduate students may draw upon during their studies. Mrs. Ma. Rechel A. Pillora, Head of the Human Resource Management Office, was represented by Ms. Jizza J. Zarate during the introduction of key officials.
The University’s Vision, Mission, Quality Policy, and Goals were presented by Quality Assurance Director Dr. Methusela C. Perrocha, represented by Ms. Charry Callaso, giving students a broader view of the institutional principles that inform GSU’s academic direction and quality assurance practices.
Graduate students were likewise briefed on school policies by Director Rey M. Arturo, Director of the Office of Student Development and Services (OSDS) and a Graduate School faculty member. The discussion familiarized students with the regulations and academic protocols governing their stay in the University.
The orientation also featured presentations on essential student services. University Nurse Mrs. Jean G. Baterzal discussed the University’s medical and dental services, while University Librarian Mrs. Regina V. Traifalgar introduced the library services through a video presentation.
Meanwhile, Guidance Counselor Dr. Geraldine Joy B. Espinosa discussed the University’s guidance services, including the support available to students as they navigate the academic and personal demands of graduate education.
The program concluded with closing remarks from Graduate School Associate Dean Dr. Julie Ann Y. Sioting, represented by Dr. Joedar P. Satojito, who conveyed the Graduate School’s welcome to the incoming students and encouraged them to make purposeful use of the academic resources and institutional support available to them.
