Guimaras State University (GSU) subjected six undergraduate degree programs to the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) Online Accreditation 1st Survey Visit from September 7 to 11, 2026, placing its academic systems, resources, and practices under a five-day virtual evaluation.
The survey covered the Bachelor of Public Administration (BPA), Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE), Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME), Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education (BTLEd), Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Science (BSEd Science), and Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies (BSEd Social Studies) programs.
The opening program on September 7 was led by Quality Assurance Director Dr. Methusela C. Perrocha and Quality Assurance Head Mrs. Jed Grace C. Porras. Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Erly M. Martir delivered a message, while AACCUP Coordinators Dr. Analyn M. Gamit of Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology (NEUST) and Dr. Reynaldo G. Salamat of Bulacan State University (BulSU) presented the statement of purpose and introduced the external evaluation teams.
GSU’s preparations were organized through program and institutional taskforces headed by College of Arts and Sciences Dean Dr. Analiza G. Sanchez, College of Engineering and Industrial Technology Dean Engr. Conrado S. Calumpita, and College of Teacher Education Dean Dr. Jasmin T. Gadian.
For the duration of the survey, the AACCUP panel conducted online document audits, interviews, and virtual facility reviews, examining the programs against prescribed accreditation standards.
Serving as team leaders were Dr. Raoul J. Magcamit (MarSU), Engr. Michael B. Orpilla (CagSU), Engr. Medel E. Aligan (BU), Dr. Nel Bryan C. Tugelida (DMMMSU), Dr. Marilene C. Hipolito (NEUST), and Dr. Rosanna D. Gonzales (PangSU). The evaluation teams also included lead accreditors Dr. Rexmelle F. Decapia, Jr. (TUP), Engr. Armando P. Matias (RTU), Asst. Prof. Jona A. Rante (ISPSC), Dr. Aprilyn B. Dimalaluan (WPU), Dr. Jesus C. Rodriguez (DMMMSU), and Dr. Rosemarie B. Cabaña (CagSU), together with librarians Prof. Vikylyn A. Guieb (ISU) and Prof. Princess N. Roderno (CavSU).
The five-day evaluation culminated on September 11 with a closing ceremony where the accrediting teams and coordinators shared their impressions of the survey visit. Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Erly M. Martir conveyed the University’s appreciation for the evaluators’ observations and engagement.
Dr. Parreño likewise stressed GSU’s receptiveness to the findings of the external review and its continuing responsibility to refine academic practices and sustain quality standards across its programs.
The activity concluded with the awarding of certificates to the accreditors and a thanksgiving prayer led by Mosqueda Campus Quality Assurance Coordinator Dr. Reiner Jun G. Alminaza.
