Seminar on the Latest Trends on Crop Protection and Product Launching of Bio-Agrownica

On February 24, 2023, the College of Agricultural Sciences (CAgS) held a seminar entitled “Seminar on Latest Trends in Crop Protection and Product Launching of Bio-Agrownica” at Guimaras State University – Baterna Campus. The session provided an introduction to organically produced goods which are increasingly popular in the market, especially with health-conscious consumers. More or less 80 members of the college’s 4H-Club, a student organization, attended the said seminar.

These organic products protect farm workers’ and consumers’ health by reducing their exposure to hazardous and persistent chemicals on the farm and in the food. Several newest innovations in natural-based crop protection for various crops, particularly vegetables were also discussed during the lecture.

Ms. Chenny Guinsatao, a member of the 4H-Club, hosted the event, while Instr. Reynro T. Herrera, Extension Coordinator of the College of Agricultural Sciences provided the opening remarks and the statement of purpose. Dr. Julius T. Vergara, Dean of the aforementioned college also spoke and Instr. Ramon Marañon, CAgS faculty introduced the guest speaker.

Mr. Concord Dumdum, guest speaker from Region VI Sales Supervisor of Bio-Agrownica, talked about the current crop protection trends and the company’s product launch. Together with him was Mr. Armil Largo, Region VII Sales Supervisor of the abovementioned company, who introduced their different organically produced products that may promote the plant’s growth, development, and protection, potentially leading to increased production.

Before the event concluded, Ms. Jocerie Genodia, 4H-Club Member, provided feedback on the activity by expressing her gratitude for the knowledge she had learned from the seminar and conveyed her hopes for the participants to look forward to the benefits that their goods may provide when applied to the selected crops. CAgS faculty member Vivian A. Segobre formally closed the program.
