GSU-CTE Conducts Hands-On Market, Tote and Lunch Bag Making Training

On April 22–23, 2026, Guimaras State University (GSU) carried out a two-day extension activity titled Eco-Craft Enterprise: Market, Tote, and Lunch Bag Production in Barangay San Nicolas. The training formed part of the university’s community outreach efforts aimed at equipping local residents with practical, income-generating skills.

The activity was led by the College of Teacher Education through the BTLED program, in coordination with the TechLIVED student organization. It falls under PANGABUHIAN, an extension program overseen by Asst. Prof. Gilbert A. Amistas, which centers on livelihood formation and community-based enterprise development.

Residents from the barangay took part in hands-on sessions focused on crafting reusable market bags, tote bags, and lunch carriers. The training walked participants through material selection, pattern preparation, and assembly, with emphasis on durability and usability. Facilitators also introduced basic costing and simple pricing approaches to help participants position their products for local selling.

Assisting in the conduct of the activity were Prof. Adora B. Gabayoyo and Prof. Aziel Lyn Y. Estilo, who helped guide participants during the workshop sessions. Student volunteers from TechLIVED likewise supported the training, working alongside facilitators in demonstrating techniques and assisting attendees.
