On July 23, 2026, Guimaras State University (GSU) formalized its Memorandum of Commitment for Calendar Year 2026–2028 membership contributions to the Western Visayas Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (WESVAARRDEC) during a ceremonial signing held at the Office of the University President, Salvador Campus.

The document was signed by University President Dr. Lilian Diana B. Parreño, signifying the University’s continued participation in one of Western Visayas’ foremost scholarly consortia on agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources research and development.

Far from functioning as a mere institutional affiliation, membership in WESVAARRDEC situates GSU within an epistemic community committed to advancing science-driven interventions that respond to the region’s developmental imperatives.
