Faculty Syllabi and Deliverables Aligning Goals and Outcomes: CEIT, CCJE Faculty Recalibrate Instructional Practice

Faculty Seminar-Workshop

On July 9, 2026, Guimaras State University (GSU) convened the Seminar-Workshop on Faculty Syllabi and Deliverables Aligning Goals and Outcomes, assembling faculty members from the College of Engineering and Industrial Technology (CEIT) and the College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) for an intensive academic calibration at the Agri-Eco Convention Hall, Salvador Campus.

In her welcome address, Dr. Jasmin L. Parreño, Dean of the CCJE, framed the workshop within the broader context of curricular fidelity, emphasizing the importance of coherent instructional planning in sustaining academic rigor and regulatory compliance. Institutional perspectives were subsequently conveyed by Dr. Erly M. Martir, Vice President for Academic Affairs, who stressed the centrality of outcomes-based curriculum mapping, evidence-driven instruction, and instructional governance in strengthening the University’s academic quality framework.

The technical sessions commenced with the presentation of participants by Dr. Aizle F. Eres, Associate Dean of CCJE. Establishing the workshop’s point of reference, Asst. Prof. Jufel D. Fernandez, Program Head of the BS in Criminology, presented the existing course syllabi, providing the baseline for instructional refinement and curriculum recalibration.

The succeeding resource speakers facilitated a sequence of specialized learning engagements. Instr. Shiela Mae G. Paltiguera discussed institutional standards governing academic document formatting, while Dr. Jasmin T. Gadian, Dean of the College of Teacher Education, led an in-depth workshop on syllabus making and rubric construction, highlighting constructive alignment among course outcomes, learning experiences, performance indicators, and assessment mechanisms.

Instructional assessment architecture was further examined by Instr. Jeffrey G. Magbanua, whose session focused on test blueprinting and the development of outcome-aligned assessment instruments. Complementing the discussion, Asst. Prof. Fernandez outlined the documentary evidence and faculty portfolio components commonly subjected to scrutiny during accreditation visits and academic quality audits.

The workshop culminated in a collegial critiquing session, where participants presented their revised syllabi, assessment matrices, and instructional outputs for technical evaluation.

The program concluded with the awarding of certificates and an official photo opportunity. Delivering the closing message, Engr. Conrado S. Calumpita, Dean of the CEIT, emphasized that instructional excellence is sustained through continuous curricular refinement, scholarly collaboration, and conscientious adherence to institutional quality benchmarks.
