The Department of the Interior and Local Government Region VI, in partnership with the Provincial Government of Guimaras, formally led the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on March 16, 2026, at the DILG Guimaras Provincial Office in Jordan, marking a significant step toward the expansion of the Recovery Initiatives Towards Sustained Local Economy (RISE) Program.

The agreement solidifies the collaboration among Guimaras State University (GSU), the Municipality of San Lorenzo, Guimaras, and other partner institutions to advance community-based enterprise development and promote sustainable local economic growth. Under the partnership, GSU—under the leadership of Lilian Diana B. Parreño—will serve as the Local Resource Institute, providing technical expertise and academic support for the “SLOVEGA Agro-Experience” initiative.

The project aims to transform the San Lorenzo Vegetable Growers Association farm into a viable agri-tourism destination, enhancing farmers’ income opportunities, generating employment, and strengthening the “San Lorenzo Fresh” brand.

The ceremony was graced by key officials, including Hon. Ma. Lucille L. Nava, MD, Governor of the Province of Guimaras; Hon. Cecile C. Gumarin, Vice Governor of the Province of Guimaras; Hon. Jimmy O. Gajo, Mayor of Municipality of San Lorenzo, Guimaras; and Mr. Juan Jovian E. Ingeniero, Regional Director of Department of the Interior and Local Government Region VI—stressing a unified commitment to cultivating inclusive growth and sustainable development in the province.
