Expansion of ITRDC Building: A New Chapter for Research and Development Begins

Several key officials of the university attended a groundbreaking ceremony on September 24, 2024, for the expansion of the Industrial Technology Research and Development Center (ITRDC) Building.

Dr. Bernardo G. Cagasan, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, delivered a prayer at the ceremony. Additionally, Dr. Lilian Diana B. Parreño, University President, delivered her welcome remarks. Dr. Parreño expressed her gratitude to the contractor and expressed her expectation that this partnership will continue to progress and that the contractor will fulfill the requirements outlined in the plan. Following this, Dr. Jonathan G. Gabion, Director of the Planning and Project Management Unit, delivered a benediction.

Afterward, a ceremonial groundbreaking was conducted, during which the contractor and key officials jointly turned the first soil, signifying unity and a shared vision for the successful implementation of the project.

On the other hand, Mr. Michael John Benedicto, a representative of the S.T. Salcedo Construction Corporation, pledged his support for the building’s construction. He emphasized that they were committed to completing this project within the designated timeframe and with the highest quality. Subsequently, Dr. Julius T. Vergara, Vice President for Research, Extension, Training, and Innovation, delivered his closing remarks and expressed his desire for the collaboration of all parties, including the contractor, project monitoring, planning team, and finance department for the success of this project.

To conclude, the ITRDC building expansion will require 189 calendar days of construction and this project is implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH). This building will serve as both a learning space for students and an environment for faculty researchers to conduct research and develop industrial technology innovations.
