HRMO Organized an Orientation Program for GSU Newly Hired Personnel

The newly hired personnel of Guimaras State University

The Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) hosted an orientation program for newly hired Guimaras State University (GSU) employees on July 4, 2024, at the Agri-Eco Convention Hall. This orientation was designed to provide them with the necessary skills and knowledge about the institution.

During the orientation, GSU’s history, mandate, quality policy, vision, mission, goals, objectives, and core values were presented using multimedia. Mrs. Janet R. Aleman, Board Secretary and Vice President for Administrative and Finance, next presented was the composition of the GSU board of regents, organizational structure and legal basis, offices, functions, and annexes, as well as the key officials of Guimaras State University.

In the absence of Dr. Luna V. Lamera, Chief Administrative Officer – Administrative Division, Mr. Ken D. Pillora, Supervising Administrative Officer – Admin Division, introduced the standards of expected behavior and work performance of a public servant, as well as the duties and responsibilities of newly hired employees. Mr. Pillora stated at the orientation that as government employees, we must follow the rules, always smile when serving the public, and work beyond office hours to meet the demands of the public.

On the other hand, Mrs. Ma. Rechel A. Pillora spoke thoroughly about the agency’s internal rules and work related benefits. She also clarified the distinction between tardiness and absenteeism and emphasized the need of arriving at work early.

In the afternoon session, Dr. Julius T. Vergara, Vice President for Research, Extension, Training, and Innovation talked about the rewards and recognition through the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (PRAISE). Dr. Vergara tackled the criteria, qualifications, and how to meet the requirements before being recommended for the award.

Following that, Dr. Methusela C. Perrocha, Director of Quality Assurance, spoke about the university’s quality management system. Following the orientation, a number of employees participated in an open forum where they voiced their opinions and asked questions about different topics discussed. Finally, Mr. Ken Pillora concluded by saying a few words. He pointed out that through unity, we can make a big difference in achieving humility.

This orientation had a significant impact on the newly hired personnel. They are now conscious of their obligations and committed to the advancement of Guimaras State University.
