The Quality Assurance Office, in line with the university's governance, manages and coordinates all quality-related activities across the institution.

To guide our journey forward, we've created a detailed Strategic Quality Assurance Development Plan for 2023-2027. This plan acts as our roadmap, outlining 18 key steps we're taking to raise the bar for quality at GSU. Our goal is to ensure GSU stays competitive and continues to provide quality education for all our students in the years to come.
Ensuring quality is a shared responsibility across our entire community. Our Board of Regents and University President provide essential leadership and guidance for our quality efforts. Working closely, our Director of Quality Assurance and the three Vice Presidents lead the way in implementing quality initiatives throughout the university.

Importantly, the insights and hard work of our faculty, staff, students, and valued stakeholders are the foundation of this structure, actively contributing to the university's ongoing journey of improvement.
Program accreditation is a key element of Guimaras State University's (GSU) dedication to quality assurance. By aligning our curricula with rigorous national and international standards, we ensure our students receive a high-quality education that meets global standards.
GSU actively seeks accreditation for many of its programs. This involves a thorough evaluation process conducted by the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP). This process includes preliminary, online, and formal survey visits to verify the quality and relevance of our academic offerings.
The 2018 institutional accreditation process provided GSU with valuable insights that led to notable improvements in several areas. As a result of this experience, the university enhanced its Quality Assurance Office, promoted a stronger culture of quality through workshops and feedback, and diligently prepared for future accreditation efforts. GSU has successfully achieved Level I Accredited Status in Institutional Accreditation, reflecting its ongoing dedication to quality.
Building on our progress since the 2018 Institutional Accreditation, Guimaras State University (GSU) warmly welcomed a team of experts from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP) on February 10 to begin our new accreditation journey. The evaluation, a significant step for our university, continued until February 14.
The accreditation process kicked off with a friendly welcoming ceremony at the President's Office, followed by a larger gathering at the Agri Eco Convention Hall. GSU President Dr. Lilian Diana B. Parreño expressed our pride in the university's continuous growth and highlighted that this accreditation was a chance to celebrate our achievements and identify new opportunities for the future.
Dr. Milabel E. Ho, the Executive Director of AACCUP, then introduced the dedicated members of the accreditation team: Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, who led the team and focused on Governance and Management; Dr. Iris April L. Ramirez, who looked closely at Teaching, Learning, Evaluation, Faculty, and Staff; Dr. Maria Glenda O. De Lara, who assessed Research, Extension, Consultancy, and Linkages; Dr. Anita C. Sornito, who reviewed Support to Students and the Library; Engr. Nancy M. Santiago, who examined Infrastructure, Learning Resources, and the Quality Assurance Culture; Ms. Roxanne M. Apostol, the team's Documenter; and Mr. Dominic T. Martinez, from AACCUP's Management Staff.
Following these introductions, Dr. Parreño proudly presented GSU’s recent successes, program improvements, and ongoing developments. The accreditation team then engaged in conversations through interviews, carefully reviewed documents, and toured our university’s facilities. They also held meetings to share their initial findings and observations.
Having already achieved Level I Accredited Status after the 2018 evaluation, this new process demonstrates GSU's ongoing dedication to raising our educational standards and improving our operations. Our university aims to build on our current strengths and further establish itself as a leading institution in the region. The results of this evaluation will provide valuable insights to guide GSU’s future growth, ensuring it continues to effectively serve our students and the wider community.
Our dedication to quality at Guimaras State University is strongly affirmed by our ISO 9001:2015 certification. This globally recognized standard means we have a strong and effective system in place to manage and improve the quality of everything we do. Getting and keeping this certification requires us to carefully review all our processes, track key performance indicators, and constantly work on making things better. We're proud to have successfully achieved re-certification for our ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS), showing our continued commitment to these important global standards.
Guimaras State University is deeply committed to always improving and ensuring its long-term success. Back in 2016, we took part in the Commission on Higher Education's (CHED) Institutional Sustainability Assessment (ISA). This involved a thorough look at important areas like how we're governed, our quality assurance processes, and how we manage our resources. The ISA gave us valuable insights that still help shape our plans for a sustainable future. We're also proud to share that GSU was the first SUC in the Visayas and Mindanao regions, and only the second nationwide, to undergo this important assessment by CHED.

At Guimaras State University (GSU), academic excellence is not just a goal—it is a continuous commitment shared by the academic community. To ensure that students receive a high-quality education, GSU undergoes a rigorous evaluation process for each of its accreditable program offerings.
Based on recent data, GSU offers a total of twenty-eight (28) programs. Of these, seven (7) have achieved Level IV accreditation, four (4) are Level III accredited, three (3) are Level II accredited, and one (1) has obtained Level I accreditation. Additionally, eleven (11) programs hold Candidate status.
The remaining two (2) programs are newly offered and currently non-accreditable, but they are expected to undergo the accreditation process in the future.
In November 2025, GSU is set to take another significant pace on its journey towards academic excellence with seven (7) of its programs are scheduled for a higher-level of accreditation survey visit. Achieving higher accreditation levels is essential for GSU, as it guarantees that students receive high-quality education that aligns with academic and national standards.

Guimaras State University (GSU) continues to hold its commitment to academic excellence through its latest program compliance achievements.
Out of 28 programs offered, 20 undergraduate programs and 7 graduate programs have been granted the Certificate of Program Compliance (COPC) by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Additionally, one newly offered program has obtained a government permit and is currently undergoing the application process, with ongoing efforts to meet all necessary compliance requirements.
In 2024, GSU was recognized by CHED as one of the State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) that achieved 100% COPC compliance for both graduate and undergraduate programs at the regional and national levels.
