GSC helps the frontliners to fight againts COVID-19 Pandemic: Hand Sanitizers and Facemasks Distributed

The Guimaras State College together with Dr. Rogelio T. Artajo (College President) and GSC Personnel donated hand sanitizers and face masks to the following beneficiaries:

hand sanitizers to Barangay Officials of Brgy. Mclain, Buenavista Guimaras for their frontliners.

Face masks and hand sanitizers to Health Workers and other frontliners of Jordan Rural Health Unit

Face masks and hand sanitizers to health workers, other frontliners and LGU officials of the Municipality of Sibunag and its Rural Health Unit, received personally by the Municipal Mayor and the Municipal Health Officer.

  2. Research abstract should be between 200-250 words that follow the prescribed format

Abstract(Tahoma) this part will contain the abstract of the paper that will be presented for the parallel sessions for 15 minutes. This must be 200-250 words only, single spaced. The abstract must contain the statement of the problem, the objectives of the research, the methodology used and the result or the output of the research.

Keywords(Tahoma,11) this must contain at least 5 important terms form the study

  1. Researchers will be notified two days after the submission of abstract.
  2. Once Accepted, the full papers shall be submitted on or before November 22, 2019.
  3. Full papers should be in publishable format composed of 4,000-6,0000 words excluding the abstract (Please see guidelines for Full Paper Format below).

INTRODUCTION (Tahoma,11)
The introduction must include the rationale and the main objectives with proper discussions of the variables as well as the significance of the study. This also includes the arguments and citations of the related literature and studies. Provide crisp and easy to read the content. The article should be readable by a normal user. Define abbreviations and acronyms the first time they are text, even after they have been defined in the abstract.

METHODOLOGY
(Tahoma,11)

This should describe the research method used in the study, discuss the sampling technique used in selecting participants, and explain the generation and validation of the instrument. The Data Collection procedures must also be well defined. The Statistical Tools used in the study must be well explained in the Data Analysis part. Ethical considerations (if applicable) are also considered important in informing the participants regarding the purpose of the administration of the instrument or the main purpose of the study. Included here are the proper way of putting sub-headings and its levels


RESULTS and DISCUSSION
This part should present the results of the study and should be comprehensively discussed. The paper should provide sufficient information and evidence to support the results. The references should be cited properly. Tables are numbered consecutively with a title that is written above the table. Figures should be numbers with Arabic numerals with the title that appears below the illustration.

CONCLUSION
A conclusion may review the main points of the paper, do not replicate the abstract as the conclusion. A conclusion might elaborate on the importance of the work or suggest applications.

REFERENCES
List all sources used in the study and must be written in APA Style

  1. Powerpoint presentations of accepted papers should be submitted on or before December 4, 2019. The Powerpoint presentation should contain the following:

Results and Discussion
Conclusion
References

  1. The presenter is given only Fifteen (15) Minutes for presentation. There will be no limit in the number of powerpoint slides as long as the presenter will be able to present within the given 15-minute limit. The Facilitator provide the signal for the remaining minutes left.
  2. The presentation must be in Powerpoint (office 2010 or earlier version) saved in a virus-free flash drive. The softcopy of the presentation must be given to the assigned facilitator before the parallel session begins.
  3. There will be a question-and-answer period right after the paper presentation

GSC Personnel attended the FOI Compliance Consultation and Workshop last November 11, 2019, at CDO

CAGAYAN DE ORO – GSC Personnel Dr. Agustin N. Arceña (Planning Officer), Dr. Simeon J. Cainday III (Data Privacy Officer) and Instr. Adrian J. Forca (Web Administrator) attended the FOI Compliance Consultation and Workshop last November 11, 2019, at Cagayan de Oro City. In the said Consultation and Workshop, the Presidential Communications Operations Office enlightened the Participants in the Preparation of the FOI Compliance as the campaign of the said office focuses on the disclosure of public information for the public consumption.

Said activity served as a venue for the participants to raise concerns and clarify issues pertaining to the Freedom of Information.

Dumagpi (Dean, College of Business Management) attended the 6th SEAMEO Polytechnic Network Meeting Agreement for SEA-TVET Network Action Plan at Duy Tan University, Da Nang City, Vietname last October 17-18, 2019.

The said meeting served as an avenue to the member institutions to share and learn the successful practices of collaboration from the participating institutions, identify the SEA-TVET Network Action plan of 2020 to 2023 for Student Mobility, Teacher Development/Faculty Exchange, and Research and Development, It was an avenue also to seek commitments from participating TVET Institutions to in the implementation of 5th batch of SEA-TVET student exchange programme in 2020, teacher development/ faculty exchange and research development and further strengthen partnership among participating institutions.

New ITSO Personnel were sent to Patent Search and Draft Writeshop: Two Inventions Filed for Philippine Patent

TAGUIG – Guimaras State College sent the three new ITSO (Innovation and Technology Support Office) Personnel of the College namely: Instr. Adrian C. Alumbro (Program Head, BS Food Technology), Instr. Adrian J. Forca (Program Head, BS Information Systems) and Instr. Reiner Jun G. Alminaza (Program Head, BS Information Technology) to the 5-Day Patent Search and Patent Drafting Writeshop last September 16-20, 2019 held at the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHIL), Intellectual Property Center #28 Upper McKinley Road, McKinley Hill Town Center Fort Bonifacio, Taguig City 1634.

Instr. Adrian C Alumbro Presented his Patent Search Methodology

In the said writeshop, IPOPHIL provided technical assistance to the three new ITSO Personnel in conducting patent search and preparation of patent applications where the actual technologies of the participants were the subject of the Writeshop.

Actual outputs filed by the personnel are: patent search and draft specifications and claims of actual technologies. Personnel were productive and made to file 2 innovations in computer-related inventions.

The Western Visayas Food Innovation Center – Guimaras State College (WVFIC-GSC) conducted the “In-house Review of FIC Product Development Research Proposals” last September 6, 2019 at the WVFIC Training Room, GSC, Mosqueda Campus, Jordan, Guimaras. The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) VI Grant-in-Aid program funded the activity entitled “Intensifying the Research and Development Activities and other Services in the Food Innovation Center (FIC)”. The panel members for the in-house review are Ms. Jhoanna M. Bolencis, DOST VI – FIC Focal Person, Science Research Specialist II; Ms. Rebecca Tubongbanua, Owner, McNester Food Products, and Dr. Lilian Diana B. Parreño, GSC – Vice President for Research and Extension.
