GSU Hosts 2023 International Research Summit: Advancing Innovation and Transformation in Education and Research

International Research Summit

On February 28, 2023, Guimaras State University (GSU) held the highly anticipated International Research Summit organized by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Extension, Training, and Innovation. The summit, themed “Research in the Global Community: Moving Forward for Innovation and Transformation,” aimed to foster global academic collaboration and advance research applications to address pressing issues facing society today.

The event served as an interactive, dynamic platform for global academics to discuss a wide range of research topics focused on resilience, adaptability, digital intelligence, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. It underscored the vital role of research in supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4: Quality Education—highlighting how research can shape innovative educational practices, improve knowledge management, and contribute to transformative learning environments.

Throughout the summit, participants engaged in insightful discussions on enhancing research applications that respond to the changing needs of global communities. Eight research studies were presented by GSU faculty members, while Mendel University contributed five studies. These research papers explored time-sensitive or context-specific understandings of various academic fields, proposing frameworks that take future-oriented projections into account to influence present-day decision-making.

A significant highlight of the summit was the resource speaker session delivered by Mr. Jaypee Kein Entredicho, Project Evaluation Officer of the Provincial Government of Guimaras. Mr. Entredicho presented an overview of the province’s development profile and potential research topics that align with regional priorities. His discussion emphasized the importance of integrating local and global research efforts to address challenges faced by both urban and rural communities.
