CBM Tourism and Hospitality Management Department Mentors Guimaras Homestay Association Members in Business Plan Workshop

Building on the success of the 2022 Homestay Training Program on ASEAN Standards, a collaboration between Guimaras State University (GSU) and the Guimaras Homestay Owners and Workers Association (GHA), GHA members sought further guidance to enhance their business planning skills. In response to the request and for the continual promotion of the SDG 8 – Decent Work and Economic Work in all the extension endeavors of the Institution, GSU’s College of Business and Management (CBM) Tourism and Hospitality Management Department conducted the “ASEAN Standard: Business Plan Workshop” on March 20, 2023, at the GSU Agri Eco Convention Hall.

The workshop aimed to help participants gain a clear understanding of business plan implementation and to develop tailored business models for their homestay establishments. A total of forty (40) participants from the Guimaras Homestay Association and the Provincial Economic Development Office – Tourism Department attended the training.

The workshop covered essential skills for establishing homestay businesses, including creating a business model, setting specific business objectives, and conducting a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis. Through these activities, participants were able to assess their current capabilities and identify strategies to strengthen and sustain their businesses.

This initiative reflects GSU’s ongoing commitment to supporting local enterprises and enhancing tourism through skills development and community collaboration.
