Guimaras State University-Sta. Teresa Campus (GSU-STC) proudly joined the 29th anniversary celebration of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), commemorating the passage of the landmark “TESDA Act of 1994” (Republic Act 7796). This event, held on August 24, 2023, celebrated TESDA’s enduring impact on skills development and technical education in the Philippines, highlighting the shared commitment to SDG 4, which promotes inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all.
The festive event began on a high note, bringing together participants from TESDA’s Provincial Office, including a special representative of Guimaras Governor Raman Nava. Guimaras’ TVI (Technical Vocational Institutions) and TTI (Technical Training Institutions) marked the occasion with a banner-raising ceremony.
A highlight of the celebration was a coordinated convoy visiting key TVIs and TTIs, underscoring TESDA’s role in community-based education. The Happy Assessment and Training Corporation, Inc., located in Sta. Theresa, Jordan, Guimaras, provided a warm meal, while GSAC in Sibunag, Guimaras, hosted refreshments. The celebration continued with exciting games organized by Kokomojo Training Incorporated, with activities like Pass the Message, Egg Relay, Longest Line, and Sack Race. The festivities concluded with an awards ceremony to honor the contributions of participating training centers to TESDA’s legacy.
GSU-STC further supported TESDA’s mission by participating in TESDA-PESO TECHVOC Day on August 25, 2023. The event, aimed at enhancing employment opportunities, brought together 121 employers who offered job placements for skilled graduates, including those certified in Organic Agriculture Production NC II.
These celebrations not only underscored TESDA’s pivotal role in fostering skills and job readiness but also highlighted GSU-STC’s alignment with SDG 4 by emphasizing quality skills development and supporting the meaningful employment of local graduates.
