The Office of Research and Development at Guimaras State University (GSU) recently hosted the 26th Research In-House Review for completed research projects, aligning with the theme “Excellence in Research and Innovation towards Advancing GSU’s Frontier.” The event, which took place on September 20, 2023, marked a significant milestone in the university’s commitment to advancing research and supporting the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4, which emphasizes quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all.
The event began with an invocation, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the GSU Hymn, presented through a multimedia performance. The gathering was enhanced by the participation of distinguished research panelists from other State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), who joined virtually to share their insights and expertise.
Dr. Ian A. Navarrete and Dr. Ludito Ramirez from Southern Leyte State University (SLSU), along with Dr. Mae Flor Posadas from Central Philippines State University (CPSU), brought valuable perspectives to the discussions. Their contributions helped to elevate the quality of the review process and encouraged meaningful dialogue that spanned diverse fields of study.
Thirteen completed research projects were presented during the event, with 12 of them undergoing a comprehensive paper review. This rigorous review process plays a critical role in enhancing the quality of research within the university and ensuring that the research outputs meet high academic and professional standards. The focus on improving research quality is not just about meeting academic goals, but also about supporting SDG 4’s broader objective of providing quality education, promoting innovation, and fostering a culture of continuous learning.
In line with GSU’s strategic objectives and SDG 4, the review also addressed the alignment of research initiatives with the university’s Research Agenda. Following detailed deliberations, the panelists identified specific research projects to be considered for funding from the Php 3,000,000.00 allocation from the Department of Budget and Management (DBM). This funding is intended to further support groundbreaking research that will contribute to the university’s goal of advancing educational excellence and innovation.
This collaborative effort not only highlights the importance of rigorous research evaluation but also underscores GSU’s dedication to fostering an environment where research and innovation play a central role in addressing global challenges. Through initiatives like the 26th Research In-House Review, GSU continues to uphold the values of SDG 4, ensuring that its academic community thrives and contributes to sustainable development and global progress.
