GSU-CST Conducts Successful Video Lesson Creation Training Using Movavi

On May 23, 2023, Guimaras State University – College of Science and Technology (GSU-CST) hosted a training workshop at Daragan Elementary School in Buenavista, Guimaras, focusing on equipping eleven teachers from the Department of Education (DepEd) with the skills to create high-quality video lessons using Movavi. This initiative directly supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.

The workshop, organized in collaboration with Movavi video creation professionals, began with opening remarks from Dr. Marsha V. Berug, Head Teacher III at Daragan Elementary, who expressed appreciation for GSU-CST’s commitment to enhancing educational practices through community engagement. She emphasized that improving teaching methodologies is essential for fostering an environment where students can thrive.

Participants received hands-on training covering the fundamentals of PowerPoint and the features of Movavi, including storyboarding, media importing, and video editing techniques. The interactive sessions encouraged discussion on integrating video content into teaching, enabling teachers to share experiences and receive personalized support in lesson development. Legal topics such as copyright and fair use were also addressed to ensure compliance in content creation, further enhancing the professionalism and quality of educational resources produced.

The training was well-received, empowering teachers with the confidence to produce engaging video lectures that improve student learning experiences and accessibility. This initiative exemplifies GSU-CST’s dedication to promoting innovative educational practices that contribute to SDG 4 by equipping educators with the necessary tools and skills. Following the positive feedback, the community extension services team plans to conduct additional training sessions in the future, continuing their commitment to quality education and community development.
