Empowering Parents for Healthier Homes: GSU’s TUDLO-E Program Champions Hygiene and Well-Being in the ATI Community

TUDLO-E Extension Program

Guimaras State University’s College of Teacher Education recently launched an extension program titled TUDLO-E (Teaching, Understanding, Directing, and Leading the Opportunities in Education) to enhance the capabilities of parents in the ATI Community regarding sanitation and personal hygiene. The training sessions took place on December 13, 14, 20, and 21, 2023, in Sitio Serum, Brgy. San Nicolas, Buenavista.

The initiative, led by a team of educators including Prof. Josephine G. De Asis and Dr. Jasmin T. Gadian, engaged 20 parents from the local community. The program emphasized the importance of hygiene and sanitation in maintaining health and preventing disease transmission.

Participants were provided with modules translated into Hiligaynon, ensuring that the content was accessible and relevant to the community’s needs. The training highlighted how good hygiene practices not only protect individual health but also contribute to a cleaner and healthier community, ultimately saving lives and fostering good character.

Through this program, the College of Teacher Education aims to create a lasting impact on public health at both the household and community levels by equipping parents with essential knowledge and skills related to sanitation and personal hygiene. Additionally, the extension activity aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of “Good Health and Well-Being.”
