Empowering Lives: First Aid Training for Community Resilience

The College of Arts and Sciences at Guimaras State University-Salvador Campus hosted a training session in Barangay San Enrique, San Lorenzo, on December 29, 2023, focused on enhancing emergency preparedness through First Aid education. The program, titled “Want to Know: The Benefits of Saving Lives Through First Aid,” engaged 26 Barangay Tanods and Barangay Health Workers (BHWs).

The training underscored the critical role of First Aid in disaster preparedness, empowering community members with essential life-saving skills. Participants learned about the benefits of First Aid and its effectiveness in saving lives during emergencies.

The event began with a prayer led by Prof. Ana P. Encarquez, followed by an interactive session led by Instr. Agusto Y. Yanguas. Dr. Ma. Xy J. Yanguas captivated the audience with an insightful discussion on First Aid, encouraging active participation throughout the session. Engr. Joven C. Cablas hosted the event, creating a supportive and engaging atmosphere.

The training concluded with a group photo to commemorate the collaborative effort, facilitated by project leader Dr. Ma. Xy J. Yanguas and supported by Dr. Agatha Rica B. Norilla, CAS Coordinator. This initiative not only equipped participants with vital skills but also aimed to support the sustainable development goals of “Good Health and Well-Being” by reinforcing the community’s commitment to safety and preparedness in emergencies.
