
On October 4, 2023, Guimaras State University, College of Arts and Sciences successfully conducted a one-day extension activity in Brgy. San Isidro, Buenavista, aimed at addressing stress management and promoting personal development among barangay officials and health workers.
The program, titled “Coping with Workplace Stress and Mitigation Measures”, sought to equip participants with effective techniques for managing stress, enhancing emotional awareness, and fostering a sense of social responsibility. Barangay Captain Hon. Nilda G. Jolin welcomed participants, highlighting the importance of stress management in both their professional and personal lives.
The day began with registration and an opening prayer led by Prof. Ma. Xy Yanguas. Instructor Donnavie D. Loriezo emphasized the relevance of the activity, noting that stress is an inevitable part of life and that the college aims to provide ongoing support to the community.
The highlight of the day was a lecture by Instructor Anthony Jalando-on, who engaged participants with questions about their stressors and coping strategies. He addressed the nature of stress, its factors, and effective mitigation techniques. The interactive session encouraged participants to share their experiences and ask questions, creating a collaborative learning environment.
Overall, this initiative supports the Sustainable Development Goal of “Good Health and Well-Being” by demonstrating GSU’s commitment to improving the well-being of community leaders and enhancing their capacity to serve the people of Guimaras more effectively.
