Guimaras State University (GSU) expresses its heartfelt gratitude to Mr. Igor Edward Maksymiw for his generous donation of musical instruments that will strengthen the University’s cultural, musical, and performing arts initiatives while expanding learning opportunities for its students.
The donation includes two drum sets, two large lyres, a keyboard, a keyboard amplifier, two electric guitars, two guitar amplifiers, a bass guitar, and a bass amplifier—equipment that will augment the University’s music resources for rehearsals, performances, artistic instruction, and co-curricular engagements.
On July 13, 2026, the donated instruments were formally received through Mr. Rhen Poll Potato, representative of Mr. Maksymiw. The instruments were subsequently installed on the third floor of the Graduate School Building, where they will serve as shared instructional and creative resources accessible to students, faculty members, and staff engaged in musical training, ensemble rehearsals, cultural productions, and other University-sanctioned artistic endeavors.
Office of Student Development Services (OSDS) Director Rey M. Arturo, together with Dr. Ervin L. Isogon, Director of the Cultural Affairs, Traditional and Contemporary Arts, conveyed the University’s gratitude to Mr. Igor Edward Maksymiw, as well as to Mr. Rhen Poll Potato, Ms. Marjorie Galleto, and Mr. Philip Carthew, whose support and coordination contributed to the successful turnover of the donation.
On behalf of the University, President Dr. Lilian Diana B. Parreño, together with the entire GSU community, extends heartfelt appreciation to Mr. Igor Edward Maksymiw for his generosity and confidence in the University’s cultural and educational mission. The donation reflects a shared belief in the transformative role of the arts within higher education and contributes to an environment where creativity, expression, and artistic discipline may continue to flourish.
GSU values partnerships that advance the creative life of the University and enrich the educational experience of its students through meaningful investments in arts and culture.
