As part of the 127th Philippine Independence Day commemoration, Guimaras State University (GSU) President Dr. Lilian Diana B. Parreño attended the municipal program held at the Buenavista Municipal Hall on June 12, 2025.

The event was organized by the Municipal Government of Buenavista, with local government officials, department heads, uniformed personnel, school administrators, and civil society representatives present. The program included the ceremonial flag-raising and a brief commemorative message delivered by local officials.

Dr. Parreño represented GSU during the civic rites, joining other dignitaries in honoring the significance of the day. The annual Independence Day program aims to remind citizens of the responsibility that comes with freedom and encourages public institutions to remain engaged in promoting national consciousness.

The activity concluded with a short fellowship and informal discussion among attending officials and representatives from the education and public service sectors.
