On May 23, 2025, Guimaras State University (GSU), through its Gender and Development (GAD) Office, officially opened the doors to its University Charity Boutique—a sustainable access point for students in need of basic essentials such as clothing, footwear, and supplies.

Launched at the Salvador Campus, the initiative was marked by a generous first wave of donations courtesy of Mr. Michael Faulkner, who filled the GAD office with racks of usable garments and academic necessities.

GSU President Dr. Lilian Diana B. Parreño commended the initiative as a timely and compassionate response to the silent struggles of students who lack even the most basic wardrobe essentials.
In her message, GAD Director Frennie Zarate expressed gratitude to Mr. Faulkner and to future contributors. She emphasized that the boutique will be sustained through continuing donations and is open to faculty, alumni, and community members who wish to give their unused yet wearable clothing and usable school materials a meaningful purpose.

University officials, including vice presidents, deans, faculty, staff, and members of the Student Republic, witnessed the ribbon-cutting of what is envisioned to become a permanent support hub embedded in the culture of care GSU strives to uphold.

The University Charity Boutique will remain open throughout the academic year and will continue to welcome donations. Those interested in contributing may coordinate with the GAD Office during official hours.
