Training on Mango Bagging Safety and Procedures

The Guimaras State University (GSU) Baterna Campus successfully conducted a Training on Mango Bagging and Safety Procedures on December 13, 2023. This training was organized under the YEASAP: Youth Empowerment in Agribusiness and Sustainable Agri-fishery Program initiative and was attended by 4H-Club members.

The training aimed to equip participants with valuable skills in mango production, focusing on the crucial practice of bagging small mango fruits. This was in response to the declining workforce dedicated to the practice, which threatened the overall productivity of the mango industry. The event provided valuable insights into sustainable and efficient mango production methods.

The training featured Engr. Rhod Orquia and Mr. Roland Galon from the Bureau of Plant Industry as resource persons. They provided insights into the importance of bagging mangoes and introduced the materials involved in the process. The proper techniques for bagging mangoes and safety procedures were also covered in the lectures. Subsequently, hands-on activities allowed participants to demonstrate the correct method of making bags for mangoes. Some volunteers actively engaged in the practical application of safety procedures for bagging mangoes on actual mango trees.

Participants gained a deeper understanding of the importance of bagging mangoes, the materials involved, and the proper techniques for bagging. They also received hands-on experience in applying safety procedures for bagging mangoes on actual mango trees. This training not only enhanced their knowledge but also empowered them to contribute to the sustainability of the mango industry, helping to ensure a healthier and more productive agricultural future for the community.
