Training on Vertical Gardening

The Training on Vertical Gardening, held on May 15, 2023, at Guimaras State University, was part of the university’s initiative to promote sustainable urban agriculture. Organized by GSU Community Extension Services, the training aimed to equip participants with practical skills in vertical gardening, providing space-efficient solutions for food production in urban and small areas.

Key sessions included instructions on the construction of vertical garden structures, plant selection, and sustainable gardening practices. Participants actively engaged in hands-on sessions, learning soil preparation and efficient irrigation methods while constructing their own vertical gardens.

The event concluded with a discussion on the benefits of vertical gardening for food security and sustainable urban agriculture. Participants were inspired to apply the skills they learned in their own homes and communities, recognizing the potential of vertical gardening to address space constraints in agriculture and contribute to local food production.

Overall, the training successfully provided participants with the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to implement vertical gardening in their own spaces. It empowered them to address space limitations, contribute to local food production, and promote sustainability within their communities.
