On June 3, 2025, faculty and staff of Guimaras State University (GSU) gathered at the Covered Gymnasium Tuesday afternoon for Gala 2025, one of the featured events of University Week.
With the theme, “The Red Sun Sets, True Filipino Freedom Rises”, the event placed focus on post-war Philippine identity and the role of public service in shaping community life. Dressed in 1940s-inspired attire, faculty and administrative personnel took part in Threads of Glamour: A Runway Presentation, where participants walked the runway in tailored pieces reflecting the fashion of the period — structured cuts, muted tones, and restrained formality.

The runway was not just a showcase of costume. It was used to frame a broader conversation around dignity in work and institutional character.
The event also included a recognition segment titled Celebrating Heroism in Service and Excellence. Employees were acknowledged for passing the Civil Service Examination, completing postgraduate degrees, and concluding terms in university leadership roles. There were no long speeches — only a quiet emphasis on what it means to do the work, and to do it well.

Gala 2025 stood apart from the rest of the week’s activities — just presence, recognition, and a sense of who holds the institution together when no one’s looking.
