Guimaras State University (GSU) recently hosted the 2025 Junior Level Science Scholarship (JLSS) Campaign Program spearheaded by the Department of Science and Technology–Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI), gathering aspiring scholars to deepen their understanding of the program’s advantages and eligibility criteria.

The scholarship orientation featured key speakers from DOST Region VI and DOST-Guimaras. Reylen M. Jabian, Project Technical Assistant IV of DOST VI’s Scholarship Section, delivered a lecture on the benefits and academic privileges granted to JLSS recipients. Jabian emphasized the national imperative to develop a robust science and technology workforce and encouraged students to pursue careers in critical Science and Technology (S&T) fields through the JLSS.

Meanwhile, Zindy Ganancial and Salve Gonzales, both Project Technical Assistants I from DOST-Guimaras, complemented the session with an overview of the scholarship’s qualification standards and application process. Their presentations also provided practical tips on how to prepare for the examination and highlighted success stories of past grantees.

The JLSS program, under the DOST-SEI, aims to identify and support promising third-year students enrolled in priority science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) courses. The scholarship offers a monthly stipend, book allowance, thesis grant, and other support mechanisms intended to ease the financial burden of higher education and cultivate a new generation of S&T professionals.
