GSU NSTP Conducts Grounded Leadership and Anti-Drug Training Series for Students

NSTP Leadership and Anti-Drug Training Launch

Guimaras State University (GSU), through its National Service Training Program (NSTP), rolled out a multi-day training from April 26–27 and May 3, 2025, designed to deepen students’ civic responsibility and equip them with essential leadership and anti-drug advocacy skills.

Opening Activities of NSTP Training Students Engaged in Workshop

The event commenced with a workshop led by Jonaidah Balquin, who delivered a candid dissection of ethical leadership, decision-making under pressure, and situational accountability. Her discourse foregrounded the nexus between personal discipline and public influence, engaging students in open dialogue and critical scenario analysis. The session also tackled health literacy as a civic priority. A group challenge dubbed “Pasaload” was introduced to simulate real-time strategic collaboration among emerging student leaders.

Leadership Scenario Activity Participants in Strategic Teamwork

Elevating the training’s socio-civic dimension, GSU hosted a module under the National Anti-Drug Campaign. Instructor Donabella Sorongon opened the forum by asserting the irreplaceable role of youth constituencies in insulating communities from insidious drug networks. Guest speakers—Agents Alyssa Mae Zaragoza, Joedelle Lascuña, and Elmer Singbenco—delivered eye-opening discussions on the current state of illegal drug activities and prevention tactics. Their lecture featured the urgency of vigilance and proactive student participation in anti-drug initiatives.

The program culminated in an obstacle course—designed not just for physical activity, but as a reflective exercise in overcoming personal and collaborative challenges. The culminating debrief offered students a space to articulate insights, recalibrate intent, and map out post-training action points.
