GSU Bags 1st Runner-Up in Inaugural Kiay-Kiay Folk Dance Competition with “Bulaklakan” Showcase

GSU Folk Dance Team at Kiay-Kiay Competition

Guimaras State University (GSU) added another cultural feather to its cap as it clinched 1st Runner-Up in the 1st Kiay-Kiay Regional Folk Dance Competition, a major highlight of the 4th PFDS-IIDC Local Chapter Regional Folk Dance Workshop held on May 2, 2025, at the Iloilo Sports Complex Covered Gym, La Paz, Iloilo City.

GSU’s contingent captivated audiences with their rendition of Bulaklakan, a traditional Filipino folk dance celebrating the vibrant blooms of May. Characterized by graceful, synchronized movements and the symbolic use of floral garlands, Bulaklakan represents the country’s seasonal abundance and deep-rooted tradition of community offerings during town festivities.
