Guimaras State University (GSU), through its College of Tourism and Hospitality Management (CTHM), facilitated a charity-driven fun run on April 4, 2025, as a precursor to the CTHM Skills Olympics 2025: Exhibition of Talent and Skills for a Cause. The initiative sought to raise medical funds for Ivony Ferrer Simpas Asprilla, a faculty member currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer.
The activity convened a diverse group of stakeholders—students, faculty, and off-campus participants—who engaged in a solidarity-based physical endeavor focused on both community-driven aid and wellness promotion. The route commenced at the GSU Salvador Campus, proceeded to Segundino’s Gallery Event Café, and culminated back at the starting point.

Participants donned pink wristbands, signifying alignment with breast cancer awareness advocacy, reinforcing the event’s commitment to spreading awareness and support for those battling the disease.
This activity prefaced the afternoon segment of the Skills Olympics, accentuating a full-day agenda rooted in practical learning and purpose-driven engagement. It highlighted not only the participants’ enthusiasm for fitness and wellness but also their compassion and solidarity in rallying behind a meaningful cause.

The entire GSU community expresses its heartfelt gratitude to the organizers, volunteers, and donors for their collective efforts. Through this collaboration, meaningful support can truly be extended to Prof. Asprilla’s medical journey.
