The Guimaras State University (GSU) faculty and staff participated in an orientation program conducted by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) and Pagtutulungan sa Kinabukasan: Ikaw, Bangko, Industriya at Gobyerno (Pag-IBIG) on March 27, 2025. The event was held at the Agri-Eco Convention Hall, aiming to educate attendees on the services, benefits, and contributions of both organizations.

Mr. Raul Sebastian Belita III, Head of the PhilHealth Service Office in Guimaras, led the discussion on PhilHealth’s programs. He provided an overview of membership coverage, contribution requirements, and the various health benefits that members can avail of, including inpatient and outpatient services, emergency care, and preventive health programs. He also addressed common concerns regarding claims processing and the expansion of PhilHealth services under the Universal Health Care Law.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ken Carmelita, Marketing Supervisor of Pag-IBIG Fund, elaborated on the advantages of being a Pag-IBIG member. He discussed the agency’s savings programs, housing loan benefits, and multi-purpose loan offerings. Mr. Carmelita emphasized how members can maximize their savings through the Modified Pag-IBIG II (MP2) savings program, which offers higher returns compared to regular savings accounts. He also guided attendees on the process of applying for home financing and other financial assistance programs available to members.

The event concluded with an open forum where faculty and staff engaged in discussions with the resource speakers, further deepening their understanding of the importance of social security and financial preparedness.
