
Guimaras State University (GSU) is presently engaged in the “PASUC Advanced Sports Clinic: Empowering Sports Leaders, Directors, Coaches, and Trainers with Innovative Management and Training,” which commenced on March 10 at the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines. This training, orchestrated by the Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC), is designed to augment the expertise and competencies of sports professionals operating within the academic landscape.
Representing GSU at this conclave are Prof. Leopoldo R. Tumapang, Director Philippe R. Prologo, Instructor Alfred John G. Borreros, Prof. Jerry Salinas, Instructor Julie Jane G. Borreros, Ms. Meliza Bracamonte, and Mr. John Rey Aguilar. They are actively engaging with sports educators, trainers, and administrators from various state universities and colleges in a discourse on sports development.


The three-day forum encompasses discussions, intensive workshops, and training sessions administered by experts in the field. The inaugural day focuses on governance, ethics, and leadership in sports, with Mr. Pio Gerardo Solon from CHED leading a session on “Sports Management: Governance, Ethics, and Sustainability in Sports.”
The subsequent day is dedicated to hands-on instruction, featuring immersive training workshops across various athletic disciplines, including Karatedo, Pencak Silat, Arnis, Taekwondo, Boxing, and Dance Sports. Experts in each field are conducting specialized training to enhance technical acumen.


The final day of the symposium will cover recent advancements and directives in sports education. Dr. Lordinio Vergara from PNU and CHED will present on “Updates on the PATH-FIT Implementation,” followed by PASUC President Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo’s address on future strategies for sports education and training.
