Guimaras State University (GSU) intensified its observance of National Womenβs Month on March 10, 2025, with a kickoff program that challenged gender norms and celebrated the resilience of women. Spearheaded by the Gender and Development (GAD) Office in collaboration with the Physical Education (PE) Department, the event featured a dynamic mob dance following the flag ceremonyβa display of solidarity and resistance against gender-based discrimination.

Students, faculty, and staff joined the movement, wearing purple attire and ribbons as a visible statement of their commitment to womenβs rights. The energy of the participants reflected an urgent demand for inclusivity, equality, and an end to systemic barriers that continue to oppress women.
In a rousing address, GSU President Dr. Lilian Diana B. ParreΓ±o delivered a speech that featured the historical and ongoing struggles of women in the face of patriarchy. She reminded the audience that the fight for gender equality is far from over, urging them to remain vigilant and proactive in dismantling oppressive structures.

GAD Director Frennie D. Zarate reinforced this call to action, commending the attendees for their visible support and accentuating the critical role of activism. More than just a ceremonial kickoff, this event served as a declaration: the university stands firm in its mission to empower women, challenge inequality, and demand justice.
