The Guimaras State University (GSU) officially commenced its Institutional Accreditation today, February 10, with a warm welcome extended to honorable guests and the Accreditation Team from the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP). The accreditation process will continue until February 14.

The welcoming ceremony took place at the Office of the President, followed by a formal gathering at the Agri Eco Convention Hall. In her opening remarks, GSU President Dr. Lilian Diana B. ParreΓ±o featured the university’s substantial growth over the years. She placed emphasis on the notion that the accreditation is not merely an assessment but an opportunity to celebrate the institution’s progress, reaffirm its commitment to continuous improvement, and engage in meaningful discussions for further development.

Dr. Milabel E. Ho, Executive Director of AACCUP, introduced the distinguished members of the accreditation team: Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, Team Leader and Lead Accreditor for Area I (Governance and Management); Dr. Iris April L. Ramirez, Lead Accreditor for Area II (Teaching, Learning, and Evaluation) and Area III (Faculty and Staff).

Dr. Maria Glenda O. De Lara, Lead Accreditor for Area IV (Research) and Area V (Extension, Consultancy, and Linkages); Dr. Anita C. Sornito, Lead Accreditor for Area VI (Support to Students) and Area VII (Library); Engr. Nancy M. Santiago, Lead Accreditor for Area VIII (Infrastructure and Other Learning Resources) and Area IX (Quality Assurance Culture); Ms. Roxanne M. Apostol, Team Documenter; and Mr. Dominic T. Martinez, Management Staff for Institutional Accreditations, Conferences, and Trainings.

Following the introductions, Dr. ParreΓ±o delivered the Institutional Presentation, providing an overview of GSU’s achievements, programs, and institutional developments. The accreditation process then proceeded with interviews, document verification, and an ocular inspection of the university’s facilities. The team also conducted synchronization meetings to align findings and observations.
