Guimaras State University (GSU) hosted a successful Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) orientation, themed “Empowering TES Grantees for a Brighter Future,” on December 6, 2024, at the GSU Gymnasium, Salvador Campus.
Ms. Violeta C. Efondo, Director of the Student Affairs Office, delivered the keynote address, which emphasized responsible stewardship of the subsidy and academic excellence. The event informed TES grantees about program requirements, academic expectations, and available resources, helping them make the most of the benefits.
GSU President Dr. Lilian Diana B. Parreño reiterated the institution’s dedication to accessible quality education, which foregrounded GSU’s commitment to providing inclusive, equitable, and relevant learning experiences that empower students to become productive members of society equipped with skills, knowledge, and values essential for national development.
The TES program, established under Republic Act 10931 (Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act), provides financial assistance to deserving students. Eligible beneficiaries include low-income households, students from indigenous communities, persons with disabilities and solo parents and their dependents.
