The College of Science and Technology at Guimaras State University (GSU) held a training session on software and productivity tools last December 23, 2023 at New Poblacion, Buenavista, Guimaras, focusing on Microsoft Word, for residents of Barangay New Poblacion. This initiative underscores GSU’s commitment to promoting quality education as outlined in Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which aims to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
The event commenced with an opening prayer presented via multimedia, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem. Hon. Donald Tamdang, Barangay Captain, delivered inspiring opening remarks that created a positive atmosphere for learning and emphasized the value of education in empowering the community.

A key highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between GSU and Barangay New Poblacion, solidifying their commitment to collaborative initiatives that promote community development and educational advancement. Alminaza, the CST Coordinator, led the training, covering essential topics related to Microsoft Word, including basic document formatting, organization, data management, and graphics. To assess their learning progress, participants completed a pre-test before the training and a post-test afterward.
