4.0 Educational Skills Development: A Training Workshop conducted by the College of Science and Technology at Salvacion Elementary School

In a bid to equip educators with essential skills for the 4.0 education landscape and promote quality education in line with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), a comprehensive training workshop was recently conducted at Salvacion Elementary School last December 13, 2023. The program commenced with an opening prayer, followed by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem through multimedia, setting a respectful and collaborative tone for the day. Mrs. Josephine G. Natividad, the School Principal II, delivered an inspiring opening spiel that emphasized the importance of continuous professional development in today’s rapidly changing educational environment.

Dr. Reiner Jun G. Alminaza, the CST Extension Coordinator, served as the resource speaker, initiating discussions on the significance of engaging multimedia presentations in effective communication. He highlighted how integrating visual appeal with informative content can captivate audiences and enhance learning outcomes, thereby contributing to the overarching goal of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education.

The training was structured into multiple sessions, each focusing on different aspects of creating impactful presentations that align with the principles of SDG 4. The first session provided foundational principles for using PowerPoint effectively, where participants learned how to structure their content for clarity and coherence while employing storytelling techniques to better connect with their audience. The second session emphasized the visual elements of presentations, guiding educators on selecting appropriate visuals, using color schemes effectively, and incorporating multimedia elements like images and videos to enrich their presentations, thus fostering an engaging learning environment.

In the third session, Dr. Alminaza introduced interactive elements that foster audience engagement, demonstrating how to create clickable buttons and hyperlinks to transform static presentations into dynamic experiences. These skills are vital in promoting active learning, a core component of quality education.

In the final session, best practices for creating polished and professional presentations were shared, including consistent design, effective font usage, and strategies for maintaining audience interest. This training workshop aimed to empower educators with the skills needed to thrive in the 4.0 education era, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in teaching methodologies at Salvacion Elementary School. By enhancing the professional capabilities of educators, the initiative supports the commitment to providing quality education for all, ensuring that no one is left behind in the educational journey.
