Guimaras State University (GSU) recently held a training session on December 7, 2023 at Taminla Elementary School focused on creating engaging multimedia presentations, underscoring the importance of visual elements in promoting quality education, in alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4). This workshop aimed to enhance teachers’ skills in utilizing multimedia tools to capture and sustain student interest, improve understanding, and promote information retention.
The training commenced with an overview of the significance of multimedia presentations in today’s educational landscape, emphasizing how effective visual aids can significantly improve learning outcomes and foster an inclusive learning environment. By equipping educators with these essential skills, GSU is actively contributing to the global effort to provide quality education for all.
Instr. James Ryan B. Ga expertly led the session, demonstrating the features and functionalities of Wondershare Filmora, a user-friendly multimedia editing tool. Teachers were guided through essential video editing techniques, including importing media, arranging clips, adding transitions, incorporating text overlays, and integrating audio elements. These skills are crucial for creating dynamic and engaging learning experiences that cater to diverse student needs.
The session also included a lively energizer, fostering enthusiasm and positivity among the participants, which enhanced their engagement throughout the training. After the practical demonstrations, a question-and-answer segment allowed attendees to clarify specific components and techniques related to media insertion. Instr. Ga addressed all inquiries, ensuring that participants left with a solid understanding of the software.
Mrs. Gerlie F. Casa, Teacher III, opened the training with a warm introduction of the resource speaker, setting an anticipatory tone for the workshop. Overall, Instr. Ga’s insightful discussion and engaging delivery equipped teachers with valuable knowledge and practical strategies for enhancing their multimedia presentation skills.
This initiative reflects GSU’s commitment to advancing educators’ capabilities, ultimately enriching the learning experience for students in the region and contributing to the broader goals of ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education for all, as outlined in SDG 4.
