On December 5-6, 2023, Guimaras State University (GSU) organized a two-day training workshop aimed at enhancing communication skills through Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint for 33 personnel from the Guimaras Police Provincial Office (GPPO). This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4), which promotes quality education and lifelong learning.
The activity commenced with an introductory prayer and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem through a multimedia presentation. PCol Richard B. Baluis, Provincial Director of GPPO, welcomed the participants and emphasized the significance of digital literacy in modern police work.

The first day of training focused on Microsoft Excel. Topics covered included:
- Basic Excel functions and formulas
- Data organization and spreadsheet management
- Graph and chart creation for police reports
Participants actively engaged in exercises that enhanced their proficiency in handling data-driven decision-making using Excel.
The second day emphasized creating impactful presentations with Microsoft PowerPoint. Topics covered included:
- Overview of PowerPoint functionalities
- Slide layouts and design techniques
- Multimedia integration for professional presentations
Participants learned to develop professional presentations from scratch and practiced their skills by preparing and delivering group presentations, essential for effective communication in police operations.

At the end of the training, an evaluation form was distributed to gather feedback on the workshop’s effectiveness. Certificates of Appreciation were awarded to Dr. Alminaza, and all participants received certificates of completion.
The training successfully equipped GPPO personnel with enhanced skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, improving internal communication and workflow efficiency. More importantly, it supports the broader mission of GSU in providing quality education and fostering a more informed and capable workforce.
