In alignment with Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education), Guimaras State University (GSU) recently conducted a three-day training program titled “Training on Module Development on Sanitation, Personal Hygiene, and Waste Management” at San Nicolas Elementary School. This initiative, held from September 25 to September 27, 2023, aimed to equip local educators with the skills needed to create specialized modules that integrate vital sanitation and environmental knowledge into classroom instruction.
The event opened at 9:30 AM on the first day, with an introduction led by Lenie Rose Tabifranca, teacher-in-charge at San Nicolas Elementary School, who welcomed participants and highlighted the program’s objectives. Dr. Mona Liza H. Sollano from GSU’s Graduate School emphasized the importance of teaching sanitation, hygiene, and waste management, setting the stage for a hands-on training led by Dr. Roger Rueda, a Graduate School professor, and Mr. Jayson Arsenio, a graphic artist. The trainers guided participants through practical exercises on module design, empowering them to create engaging and accessible learning materials tailored to their students’ needs.
The program reflects GSU’s commitment to supporting quality education within the community by providing educators with tools to cultivate healthier, sustainable practices among students, aligning with the broader objectives of SDG 4.
