The College of Business Management (CBM) of Guimaras State University (GSU) conducted a Technical Skills Community-Based Training on financial literacy to equip community members with essential financial knowledge and skills. The training was held on August 11, 2023, at the Department of Social Welfare and Development – Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (DSWD-RRCY) in Nueva Valencia, Guimaras.
This initiative targeted vulnerable sectors, including at-risk youth and marginalized groups, with the goal of enhancing their financial decision-making capabilities and promoting economic self-sufficiency. The comprehensive training covered key financial concepts such as budgeting and financial planning, saving and investing, debt management, and financial literacy for entrepreneurship.
Faculty members from CBM, who specialize in finance, economics, and business management, led the training sessions, ensuring a high level of expertise and practical relevance. To maximize learning and engagement, the sessions incorporated interactive discussions, hands-on exercises, real-life case studies, and personalized financial planning activities.
Beyond theoretical knowledge, the training also emphasized practical financial strategies tailored to the participants’ socio-economic backgrounds. Participants were encouraged to apply these concepts in their daily lives, fostering responsible financial habits that contribute to their long-term financial well-being.
