The Organic Agriculture Production National Certificate II (NC II) training concluded successfully on July 26, 2023, at Guimaras State University’s Baterna Campus, empowering a new group of agricultural practitioners with essential sustainable farming skills. This 29-day program supported the goals of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4—ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all—by offering practical training and development in organic agriculture.

The program’s curriculum spanned various critical competencies, including cultivating organic vegetables, producing organic fertilizers, creating organic mixtures, and elective skills in raising organic hogs and small ruminants. The training combined theoretical knowledge with in-depth demonstrations and practical workshops. These sessions enabled participants to apply their skills in real-world settings, ultimately preparing them to contribute to sustainable agricultural practices in their communities.

Participants’ skills were assessed in hands-on workshops to ensure their competence in each core and elective competency, marking a transformative learning experience. Guimaras State University’s commitment to promoting organic agriculture aligns with SDG 4 by providing opportunities for quality vocational education that equips learners to thrive in environmentally sustainable fields. Through this program, the university advances its mission of cultivating lifelong learners who are prepared to make impactful contributions to sustainable development.
