The 4-H Club-Baterna Chapter held a youth-focused training on vertical gardening at Guimaras State University-Baterna Campus on May 11, 2023. The initiative aimed to revitalize the club’s agricultural activities and equip members with sustainable gardening skills following the pause caused by COVID-19. This training introduced participants to vertical gardening techniques and enabled them to apply their skills to future projects. It also supports the Sustainable Development Goal of “Zero Hunger” by reviving a source of income for the club’s operations through vertical gardening.

The event began with an opening ceremony led by 4-H member Joebel Talaban and featured inspiring remarks from Dr. Julius Vergara, Campus Director. Mr. Jessie Ortega provided insights into organic farming practices, while Mr. Nick Talondata of Green Vegeture Farm demonstrated hydroponic techniques and principles of vertical gardening. Participants enthusiastically joined in hands-on demonstrations and participated in an open forum with the trainers.
The event concluded with certificates of appreciation and closing remarks by Instructor Reynro Herrera. 4-H members expressed gratitude for the training, noting its practical value in space-efficient gardening practices.
